The Animal Emergency and Referral Center has a diverse team of veterinary specialists and emergency and critical care pet doctors dedicated to providing exceptional patient care using state-of-the-art equipment and cutting edge technology (including state-of-the-art animal hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy). Our emergency veterinarians and specialists limit their practice to their areas of specialty and are considered to not only be experts in their particular medical modalities nationally, but internationally as well.
In many ways you can think of us as two distinct yet related veterinary hospitals sharing the same state-of-the-art facility:
24 Hour Emergency Veterinary Care in Ft. Pierce, FL
The Animal Emergency and Referral Center provides 24-hour emergency and critical veterinary care as an adjunct to your pet’s primary care veterinarian. Our emergency and critical care facility is designed and built to effectively handle injuries and illnesses that occur or become acute when your primary care veterinarian is unavailable. Once your pet is stabilized, we will refer you back to your veterinarian for follow-up care in much the same way a doctor in a human hospital’s emergency room would refer you back to your family’s doctor.
Also, like a human emergency room, our emergency veterinary facility is staffed by doctors that specialize in this area of veterinary medicine. In fact, few other veterinary hospitals in this state or nationally have the resources and expertise in emergency and critical care medicine that we do at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center.
Veterinary Referral Specialists
In addition to providing superior Fort Pierce pet emergency and critical care, we also provide a wide range of veterinary specialist services through referral by your family’s primary care veterinarian. Just as your family physician relies on specialists when necessary for your treatment, veterinarians refer their clients’ pets to the Animal Emergency and Referral Center for specialized care. We provide multi-discipline specialty veterinary services to diagnose and treat complex, challenging and often life-threatening health conditions. For this reason, the Animal Emergency and Referral clinic is the premier choice of primary care veterinarians across the country.
Grand Rounds – Making both of the above work as effectively and efficiently as possible requires quite a bit of collaboration by our staff. Our method of practice includes daily hospital rounds where doctors and veterinary technicians gather to examine and discuss each case, which includes diagnostics and treatment plans. This format—input from multiple sources—enhances the depth and quality of patient care and ensures that every member of our staff is aware of your pet’s needs.
Our Veterinary Specialists Work Collaboratively with You and Your Veterinarian
Because we operate as an adjunct to your primary care veterinarian, we strive to excel at communicating with both you and your veterinarian to ensure continuity between our office and your veterinarian’s. For emergency cases, we will provide your veterinarian with a full medical record of the care your pet received. Pets receiving specialist care will have a consultation report sent to your veterinarian by fax and mail. All of these records are available to pet owners as well.
Communication also includes working with you to help you understand your pet’s medical issue and the options available for treatment as well as their associated risks and costs. This is all part of our mission to treat every client and pet as we would our own…with compassion, care and understanding.
