What is Integrative Veterinary Medicine?

By June 30, 2015Blog

Integrative veterinary medicine combines conventional and alternative therapies in order to collectively treat acute or chronic inflammation and pain associated with surgery, soft tissue injury such as blunt force trauma, joint swelling, or a wound.

Medications alone may not be enough to manage a painful condition and they can have adverse side effects. Alternative therapies are gentle on the body, improving pain management, and permitting lower doses of NSAIDs and narcotics.

Doctors at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center are specially trained to provide integrative treatment options for your pet (by referral from your primary care veterinarian). Treatment options include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, non-invasive regenerative laser therapy, physical rehabilitation, acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, platelet enhancement therapy and stem cell therapy.
